Everyone loves a bargain, especially when it comes to food. And since the launch of Too Good To Go in the UK in 2016, many of us have been hooked.
The app lets you search for local restaurants and takeaways offering unsold food at heavily discounted prices that would otherwise go to waste. The scheme became incredibly popular during the Covid-19 pandemic, with also joining in, allowing customers to pick up items nearing their expiry date.
One woman recently capitalised on the scheme in the most unlikely of locations - Harrods - London's iconic luxury department store. There, Laura Khoshaba grabbed a bag for just £8 and later took to to reveal its contents.

Diving into her paper bag, first she pulled out a mini strawberry cheesecake pot, followed by a "bunch of cakes". Laura continued: "So, we've got a red velvet, a funfetti vanilla cake slice, another red velvet and a chocolate cake."
"Quite good," Laura exclaimed. "That's a lot desserts." Her mum, Ann, sat alongside added: "Maybe we should do a comparing video." And that's exactly what they did - for Laura returned soon returned to the platform with a follow-up taste test clip.
Beginning with Harrods' funfetti cake, Laura took a large bite and declared: "It's like a Victoria sponge, but a perfect Victoria sponge. Unbelievable. It's so moist as well - I love the jam."
Moving on to the red velvet, Ann confessed: "That's my favourite." Laura, meanwhile added: "It's amazing. They're both very good." And she closed her review with the chocolate cake, something Ann isn't keen on.
"I love it," Laura said. "It's amazing. I don't know which one to pick [as the favourite]." Writing in response, one TikTok user confessed in shock: "How did I never know Harrods did a Too Good To Go? Woah."
A second person hailed Laura's bargain: "That’s a great bag as cakes are around £8-10 each in shop." A third commented: "You're so lucky Laura the last time I got this bag they gave me a lot of stale bread sticks and scones!"
A fourth TikTok user added: "Delicious! Good Food haul Laura. I used to often go to Harrods, but 25 years ago! I need to go again. it was so handy having the concierge underground parking!" Whilst a fifth shared their thoughts: "The funfetti one looks like a thing of beauty, I’d devour that for one. Not a big fan of chocolate cake either, rather have a bar of chocolate."
